4.3.3

Vocational training events (lifelong learning)

What we do: The college opens short courses and training to people who are not its students: personal-skills training for graduates of any university, courses for secondary-school history teachers with the Ministry of Education (Baghdad), kindergarten-teacher skills courses, a summer development course, and psychological-counselling training for religious-education teachers of the Shia Endowment. Its staff also wrote the "Guide to Modern Teaching and Learning Methods", which the Ministry of Higher Education circulated to Iraqi universities.

4.3.4

Education outreach activities beyond campus

What we do: Staff and students take education beyond campus: an awareness seminar on the Ja'fari personal-status code with the Holy Al-Kadhimiya Shrine, a media-department awareness campaign for pilgrims to Karbala, field visits to secondary and middle schools by the Department of Quranic Sciences and Hadith, food-basket campaigns by the "Media Ambassadors" student volunteer team, and service and awareness work during the Imam Al-Kadhim pilgrimage.

4.3.5

Lifelong learning access policy

What we do: Access to the college's activities is open to everyone regardless of ethnicity, religion, disability, immigration status or gender. This rests on the College Law (Iraqi Council of Representatives, Law No. 16 of 2009), whose Article 9 allows the admission of non-Iraqi students and of non-Muslim Iraqis and applies equally to men and women, and on the college's published vision, mission and objectives.
